Schott identity

I recently purchased a Schott leather jacket from eBay. It appears to be an 70s riders jacket, but was titled as a 'Perfecto'. (No liner, no label) It is brown. I've read that ALL schott brown leather jackets were equipped with brass hardware and that ALL black leather had the silver hardware. Is this true? Hopefully this is not a knockoff!!

Looks like a Schott to me. I don’t think it’s a Perfecto though. Did it come with the liner?

Thanks Mike. No liner. I just thought it would be weird if someone had all the brass zippers replaced for nickel ones. Maybe a custom order? Not sure if Schott would of done that. Hmmm

It is a cafe racer style jacket; nowhere near a perfecto. A nice jacket, though. Cafe racers are minimalist jackets. There is a lot going on with the perfecto style.

That's a cafe racer style or pattern a few companies appear to have made almost identically in the 1970's. I have a Brooks version of this. I thought perfecto was a range of jackets by Schott not a style. I am sure I have seen the label in a cafe racer too.

Yep, a cafe racer can be a Perfecto - it refers to a range.

To me, Perfecto is not only a brand, but is also a style of jacket—the cross zip motorcycle jacket introduced in 1928 by Irving Schott who named the jacket, and the brand, after his favorite cigar. They were popularized by Brando in the Wild One in the early 50s and by the Ramones in the 1970s.
