Well, here's something interesting.

I found this yahoo japan auction listing for a Langlitz Timberline jacket that has a Scarecrow label in it.

Google Translated: "Bespoke custom leather jacket made of 1998 made Langlitz and Scarecrow double name.

It is a rare specification of custom made by Scarecrow which is the individual of the time when Scarecrow started selling Langritz the first time in Japan, the same luxury leather that it is not comparable with current thing, the same thing as two does not exist I will."

It's hard to understand the machine translations offered through google, but I'm starting to suspect that Scarecrow may be a reseller shop based in Japan, who stock various high-end leather jackets. It sounds like, at least with this particular jacket, they specified the design to Langlitz, who built it for them. (But then, it doesn't make sense why their label says "Made In USA" on the Scarecrow label if they're indeed a Japanese company.)

I'm still sleuthing, but it'd definitely help if someone who speaks Japanese or knows the Japanese high end leather market were able to step in with some info.

I did see the top photo with reference to Langlitz on my internet travels. I am thinking Langlitz distributor in Japan too.

Uh sorry no. That's a Lang Ritz. Not even remotely related.

It's hilarious to me that the Google machine translation gets the L-R transposition error for some reason.

Also, it tends to translate "horse hide" to "hose hide"... I can't understand why the translator would make such errors.

It's due to the idiosyncrasies of the Japanese language :)

These jackets that Mr. Guppy has unearthed are very, very, very Langlitz-like. Very.

I really tend to agree. While Langlitz do a lot of custom work, I haven't seen them do anything with their name on it that looks like most of the YTH examples I found. Of all these, the YTH CHP-style is the closest to a known Langlitz design, and I'm able to notice several differences between it and a Langlitz Columbia... I cant say for sure that it's not, but absent official word from the maker or seller, I'm as confident as I can be that YTH are not Langlitz.

I was caught less by the styling and more by the stitching and other nuances. Some of the materials and components used look like what Langlitz would use as well (but not uniquely by Langlitz though).

I can't see the point in rebranding an already very established brand, especially Langlitz, with its own massive Japanese following...but if that's the case it's the penultimate in poseur...a special kind of ridiculous here to for unknown.

I thought that, too.

We've all seen double-labelled stuff before from Thurston/Aero (specifically, as I recall, on a design that Aero produced exclusively for Thurston); the double-labelled ones could have been from a run like that. It's also possible that there is a Japanese label copying Langlitz, in the same way as Adict and 666 do a take off of Lewis designs. Also possible they started off stocking Langlitz, then decided to do their own versions instead - c/f Aero and Sam Walker, or Leather Monkeys and Lewis. Interesting either way.

Love this though it looks a lot like WD/Natal CR. The half gussets would be just about the only difference.
