sad end to a vacation

I own many hats and wear them often. There is one particular panama hat that I had made about 7 years ago. Believe me it was well worn , weather permitting- of course. Anyway when i was on a vacation to Costa Rica this past summer, something terrible happened. My panama, was destroyed!!!
I was heading towards the airport to fly home when the wind blew it off. It landed on the road and was crushed by careless traffic!!! I couldnt beleive it, a hat that always stayed on my head, a hat that was a true friend was gone.
I took the remains back with me. It now sits in a box in my closet.

Same thing happened to me once. A fine 40s Stetson Panama,
blown under a row of cars coming off a freeway. I always meant
to use it in the yard, but it's too sad to look at.

You've gotta get up and get a new friend!

That's awful! I know I'd feel just terrible if such a thing happened to me; I value all my hats and would not like it at all if one was destroyed in such a way. I shall tip my hat, and have a moment of silence for the loss of your Panama.
