I got this on Ebay because the seller said the opening was 8 by 6 3/4. Not true, surprise surprise. Another very nice hat for a size 7 head.

Since it comes from the Phila factory, does it have the manufacture date on the inside of the sweat?

All I found was a series of numbers, 8817782, stamped in about 1/8-inch size, and the remains of a perforated paper info. tag with the price ($10) and size 7.
