I just found this page a few days ago. I am not sure if it is going to get big or if some good designers will be there...maybe more for the ladies.

It seems to be made by a fan and not by a big business (?)

I signed up out of curiosity but the page is still under construction.

I signed up. It looks like a cool idea, although I am not entirely sure what it is all about and whether it will get off the ground (or it is supposed to. It kinda confuses me)

Yes. It is confusing. Looks like a Fashion-Myspace but than again there is this "week" where all the action will take place.

If you think it should be in events please move it. I thought it would be for "real life" events only.

I agree with this. The girl who runs these things tries so hard, though. I almost feel bad for her in a way....

She also has a FL-like group called Timewarpliving.com. Again, it looks impressive, but hasn't really taken off.

I don't know if the concept of an "event" that goes for only a week will work out on the internet. We're used to visit homepages whenever we want, aren't we?
I've read the page will be visible a few more month after the actual event.

But the main idea is great: It could be a good way for small labels and young designers to become known. And we could find some good stuff there.

I will visit the page from time to time and maybe bookmark some of the participating shops.

There's definitely a slight rise in vintage styled clothing which is becoming noticeable down this way. More chaps in hats and flat caps and that sort of thing. Cravats are even having a bit of a renaissance after MasterChef judge Matt Preston wore them on the telly.

I'd say though that it's just a fad and it'll be something else this time next year more than likely. Still if it gets people dressing up a bit more and not being so bloody scruffy then it's a good thing.

Be nice if this time next year everybody was running around as if it was 1936 but I seriously doubt that will ever happen ;)

The event started 2 days ago. It is now possible to look at the page without sign in.
204 members are not much. Maybe it needs some time to establish.

Its been extended:

Hello Retrofashionistas and Guests,

We hope that you had a swell time at our Retro Fashion Week 2010! We appreciate everyone's hard work in organizing their pages and adding content to our event! This event wouldn't have been possible without your participation. Thank you so much for your great job and support!

Today we have several great news to with share you! Recently we were interviewed by a major international newspaper! We are so excited to inform you that Time Warp Wives and Retro Fashion Week will be featured on this newspaper! Soon our story will be on newspaper stands everywhere! So keep tuned for more information!

We have received numerous emails from many of our guests thanking us for coming up with Retro Fashion Week. Although our event is still in it's baby stages, it has received great response from folks everywhere!

For these reason we have decided to extend our Retro Fashion Week 2010 event for several more weeks! That will mean that our website will still be open to the public for everyone to come and enjoy and to have a chance to participate! We will be updating our website daily with new content and segments on the latest in retro fashion, beauty, and designs!

We are happy to inform you that Retro Fashion Week will continue to be a yearly event! We also decided that the third week of May is perfect for Retro Fashion Week. Retro Fashion Week main event activities will still be held for only a week. That will mean that our website will be updated on a daily basis with new event segments.

After Retro Fashion Week is over we will still have our website open for several more months until the end of the year. That way our guests could still enjoy the website and continue to add new content to their pages, connect, and network with other members.

Then on the month of January we will close the website for maintenance. During that month we will redesign our website and add new content. Then on February 1, we will start our Pre-Retro Fashion Week phase again. Only member participants will be allowed to come and start preparing their member's page.

During this hiatus will have a Retro Fashion Week Yearbook website where we will talk about the most memorable thing of the past year's event. Including in this Yearbook will be a gallery of photos, videos, show interviews, and experiences that members had of the year's past event. We will also add links of our different member's websites.

On behalf of all our Retro Fashion Week crew we thank you so much for being part of this fun event!

Best Wishes,

Carmen Johnson

P.S. By the way starting today we are starting our Retro Fashion Contest! So come by and submit your pictures!

I dont know what that means, though. I get on there and I dont know what Im suppose to do.

I signed my shop up and forgot about it. Maybe I will catch the second wave. Way too much to do in real life and too many places to go online.

I signed up but am frustrated that you can't do much until you are approved, including creating your alias - you have to enter your real name and it publishes that!
Oh well, everyone knows me anyway, but some people may not like that at all.
Otherwise, looks interesting.
