Good morning, everyone!

My name is Kass McGann and I own a company called Reconstructing History. We've been in business since 2003 and our main product is sewing patterns. We started with the 17th century, painstakingly producing patterns based on the surviving clothing of the time period and including period sewing techniques so that our customers could make real historical clothing, not costumes. We expanded forward into the 19th century and backwards as far as the 11th century, always keeping the same level of historical accuracy and authenticity as our guiding light.

A few years ago, we broke into the 20th century with a selection of four patterns from the 1940s -- a men's trouser pattern and three women's dresses. Now we boast an extensive line of patterns for men and women reproduced from originals from the 1910s through 1940s. Matter of fact, I've just added some new offerings from the 1920s yesterday: http://store.reconstructinghistory.com/historic-patterns/20th-century-en/1920s.html

All our patterns were taken from off-copyright originals, but expanded to fit 10 modern sizes (busts 30"-50" for women and chests 34"-54" for men). We've also added to the sometimes sketchy instructions in these historical patterns to make them easier to use for the modern seamstress or tailor. When appropriate, we include period tailoring techniques in our patterns that go outside the sewing experience of most home sewers.

And we have a toll-free number (and email contact) where you can always reach us with questions or comments.

We're a two-person family business begun by a husband and wife team who love the clothing of other time periods. We're particularly in love with the clothing of the 1920s and 1930s. We even have a blog about it here: http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/blog We hope you'll share your love with us too.

We also work with a three-generation family of tailors to reproduce suits in vintage styles. Please check out our suits page: http://store.reconstructinghistory.com/historical-clothing/20th-century.html

Our banner ads are now serving in The Powder Room and the Suits forum. Please click there to go to our website or on the link in my signature.
