I got a 1940's Leather Clad brown goat skin jacket. The leather is in wonderful condition but the lining needs to be replaced. It looks like a shiny green (a little iridescent) rayon (?) material. Is there somewhere that you know that I might source material like this to bring it to as near new original condition as possible? Ideas?

Check with Zoltan at Advance European Tailoring in Berkeley, he has a good reputation with replacing knits, linings, doing alterations with vintage leather jackets. I have had him do some alterations, and he did a great job. he is busy so it may take awhile for him to get to your item, but he does do good work. And he has replacement knits and probably linings for these type of jackets.

I'm sure that almost any competent tailor can cut the fabric and install a lining. That being said, not too many tailors are competent these days beyond hemming pants. As mentioned, Johnson will do a decent job.

Eddie @ Taraval does excellent work. Although he has not ever replaced a leather jacket lining for me, he has worked on suits for final fitment. I'm tossing around the idea of having him line one of my jackets with Chinese silk.

Golden Bear Sportswear refers their customers to Celebrity for repairs. I was sent there to reline a 20 year old jacket. they did the job. I was satisfied. Nothing exceptional. But they got the job done right.

I think Mr. S can help you out. Their motorcycle leather is excellent, and they do custom work. After all, they did make leather gym shorts for guys who wear leather at the gym.
