Regarding a decision in purchases

I have recently come into some money, and am going to make a purchase. However there are several things i would like to purchase, but i just can't get them all. So, i have decided to ask all of your opinions on the matter.
Replica M1 Garand drill rifle
Boots (type II service shoes or brown corcoran jump boots)
Jacket (probably an M43)

It depends on what you're going to need in the long run. If you are a reenactor and your uniform is incomplete, I'd go for the boots. If you would like a nice article of clothing to wear around, again the boots. If you have a complete uniform and you don't need the boots, I'd go for the rifle.

I'm not a reenactor, as much as id like to be. I do have a pair of good boots already, corcoran field boots, but i would like something a little nicer to look at.
However i also love to do rifle drill, i find it very fun. Needless to say, i'm torn in two

Jacket and boots - you would most likely get a lot more wear and use out of those instead of the others.

If that's the case and you already have a similar boot and jacket, I'd definitely go with the Garand. I think you'll have a lot more fun perfecting your drill technique.

I used an M-14 in Boot Camp, but used a Garrand in Infantry Training Regiment, back in 1966. I must say, handling an old Garrand, which almost certainly dated to WW II, was an extremely cool experience.

When I did my national service (drafted) back in 67-68 we only had Garrand. Some were WWII material - and they were all delievered back to US, when the danish army got new rifles.
(Where they were later sold to anybody who wanted one)

I am not a huge "weapon-nut" but I must say, I enjoyed shooting with the garrand back then. Maybe because it was a bit of history, I held in my hands!

But to answere the original question: By some good boots!

Well, i recently got an offer from someone to buy a jacket of mine, so it looks like i may be able to get the rifle and a pair of boots.
Now comes the next set of questions. Corcorans or service shoes? i will probably get the service shoes. how are the ones at At The Front? i read somewhere they have soft soles, is that true?

Get a real Garand (and remove the firing pin)...

OK, I might be in the minority, but my advice is to get a real Garand and have a gunsmith remove the firing pin and put it away somewhere safe and secure where you can get it if it ever becomes necessary.

A real Garand will only increase in value and you will always be able to get your investment back if you ever need the money.

It's far better to have a firearm around and not need one than to someday find yourself in need of a firearm and not have one.

I would love to do that, theres only the issue of age and money. I don't have enough of either.
