Was in value village yesterday with my family and spotted a 196os era western german tape player reel to reel, after checking it to make sure it worked for $12. brought it home, look like type write case , green and white, removable top. Medium size reels, plays well and has a real good sound, but the only tape on it is one on relaxing for hypotism. Better not listen to that message to much. Will try to post pictures on this post later, and now have to find a mic, and more tape and reels. 59Lark.

The REEL Thing

I am sure that you'll be able to find out more info on the model of player if you do some searching.

I have no doubt that there are some clubs and web sites that deal with pre-recorded music for reel to reel players, so there is a good chance you can find some neat music for the player. Every once in a while I have seen pre-recorded reel to reel stuff in the antique stores, but I have a feeling that a lot of it is tucked away in basements and attics around the globe and collectors still are seeking them out. If you get into it, you can do an ad in the pennysaver maybe, that might turn up some tapes.

Your tape recorder sounds similar to the Grundig model I received for Christmas in 1966. I used mine to record radio station jingles and to create comedy skits based around radio stations.

Finding a mike shouldn't be too hard since these Grundig models were pretty popular in their day. Just make sure it has the correct DIN connector on the end of the cord. These German DIN connectors are very different from the common phone plugs and jacks used on American tape recorders.

Tape and reels should be very easy to find if the recorder takes the standard 7" reels. But, if it takes 5" reels, those are a bit harder to find...although certainly not impossible. Check your local flea market or junk store.
