Question about "waxed" leather/cotton hats

I am new to the site...I hope that I put this question in the right forum. I have a Henschel "waxed leather" fedora, and I wore it in the rain. The heavy rain caused wrinkles in the leather that stayed there until the hat was dry. I thought that this hat was made to wear in the rain. Is it going to get ruined by wearing it in the rain? Same question for my waxed leather cotton hat. Any info on this would be helpful.

Hi Waxed hats are made to wear in the rain, but don't add a lot more wax because the hat will get limp. Ask me how I know????
