Hiya Folks,
For reasons which I won't go into - I have lots of leftover denim - and I was thinking of using this denim to build myself a hat. Specifically - an eight-panel cap. They look relatively easy to manufacture, and I'm not in-competent when it comes to the operation of a sewing machine.
I've been looking at various photographs and such on the interwebz, and have seen a variety of patterns for such caps in pictures. They all seem to have the same 'teardrop' shape to the eight panels.
Is this shape absolutely necessary? Could I get away with simply cutting eight triangles of the same size, and sewing them together?
Also - how do you size the segments of the hat so that they fit your head properly? Is there some sort of trick to that? I can guess, but I'm not entirely sure.
Hope someone can help!!
