Whoops - I didn't even look since a few veteran members suggested that I start this thread when I showed pics of how the Russet Vincenza was evolving. It would be great if they could be combined / merged somehow.

Hey Pawine,

Nice evolution of your Vincenza. It looks quite dark for the Russet though. I thought the russet has a lot more of the red orange tones... Is that not the case or does the Russet hide just loses those undertones and become more Seal brown over time??

Not really, the first picture of the entire jacket is probably the closest to its true color. It's very hard to photograph, too much light makes it look more orange / red, more than it really is, and otherwise it seems to look too brown. I will try to mess around, maybe tonight, and try to capture the color better. What's great about this particular color is that the depth is fantastic. If you look at it really close up you'd see multiple shades of brown in a small area.

Actually, I picked up the Cal Leather from a little vintage boutique store just down the street- didn't know what it was, just liked the look of it. Total luck!

Luck indeed! These go for a LOT of money. Cal-Leathers CR is one of my fav CR designs. Is it a heavyweight jacket?

Definitely substantial. The shoulder pads add some weight. And a bit heavier than my other three vintage Cal-leathers CR.
Loving the look of your Lewis Phantom! I've often lusted after a vintage Lewis- given that I'm around a size 42, would I be looking for one in a size 44?

Can't really say because the one I got lost the tags and being as old as it is, they've probably changed the sizing considerably in the mean time - or by now, at least. Fits me as a standard 40, and well at that.

From what I've seen online it seems like it would be a 42 or 44, depending on the model or year produced. Was looking at a 42 which had a PtP of 23.5", which is right where it should be, plenty of room for a 42. BUT... others, especially the older jackets, seem to run much smaller.

There are a few threads like this but it always gives me an opportunity to show this.
Made for me by(but not yet) Aero in 1981, Battersea Contract A2. Been everywhere in it, under cars, soaked through, party'd in it, fought in it, even had some romance in it(Thats just me being polite )
Its basically what A2s were made for, and yes I did fly in it.
Outgrew it so returned to it's maker 30+ years later. Thank you Mr Calder.

With a nice bit of verdigris on the brass parts
