Hi to all,
today I've seen an old man,a very old man, wearing his "coppola" a very popular cap here in Sicily.
He was very shabbly dressed: an old and shapeless jacket, a very worn out shirt and a pair of black trausers.
He was like an old paint, he was so tender...
I would like to take him a pics, but I didn't have the camera with me.
I'm waiting for a new digital camera, when I'll got it I'll post for you
"my people's gentlemen in their popular hat".
Would you like to make the same, in every place there are a lot of them!
Regards.
Riccardo.

I also enjoy your posts Riccardo...no problems in understanding at all.

I see many older gentlemen in hats here in Northern California (of course when I say "hats" I mean something like a fedora. No ball caps need apply). I imagine that 50 years from now (or less ;) ) old men in hats will mainly be in ball caps...except for survivors from the Fedora Lounge!

Riccardo,

I have to join the crowd when I say your English is fine, and that I enjoy your posts here.

Also, thank you for posting the photo. Where I live, most of the older men wear some variant of the cowboy hat. I came THIS close to ordering a custom cowboy hat -- but have now come around to the Fedora way of thinking!

BRAVO!

Riccardo,

Your English is MUCH better than my Italian, despite my mother's best efforts! I enjoy your posts and your thoughts!

Riccardo--I'm repeating what's been said above, but it does bear repeating: Your English is great. And your enthusiasm is one of the several things that make your posts fun to read. I'll enjoy those pictures you mentioned posting.

A painting with words

Riccardo
I enjoy your posts, they are like a painting with words, they evoke a certain humility and understanding that shines through the cultures. I cherish you, and I respect you Sir.

I remember seeing older folks like those you describe while I was done in Basilicata where some good friends of mine live.

I have seen a lot of hats in Italy, from Tyrolean fedoras in Tuscany, to the straw hats of the gondoliers in Venice, to the flat caps in Matera and Bari.

You have a wonderful country there, Riccardo.

Thanks for your interesting post. :)

Ciao, Riccardo--All four of my grandparents were born in Sicily and someday soon I hope my dream ("il mio sogno") to visit Sicily comes true. We can meet and have a drink and a wonderful Sicilian meal together. I love to hear about your hats and especially Sicily. Grazie tante.
A presto, Damiano
