Politics + Hats=......

I had my eye on that, since it's my size. If I hadn't just committed to buy an "Eddie G" from Art, I'd have given you a run for your money!

Congratulations! At the very worst, you got a conversation piece, but it looks like a sweet hat and a great hat box to go with it.

THIEF THIEF YOU STOLE THIS GEM

Boss, you scored a great find. I didn't remember your hat size, but 7 1/2 would have been too big for me. The "extras'" alone are well worth the price of admission. The box, high quality hat, and the political treasures are wonderful. Let us know how it looks! If it needs a slight cleaning, I know a good reference.

The title of this thread was a bit mysterious... It looks like politics + Hats = a real treasure! You really scored on that with a nice hat and some priceless historical items. "Forward Together" indeed!:cheers1:

Nice find.

you should check photos of the day and see if you can find your hat.

I'm sure that hat cost more than you paid for it new!

That hat sold for 100.00 when it was made . Today , it would be 400.00 easy. It was their top of the line . And my size too!!:cool2:

Wow! That's simply astounding!

The hat is truly marvelous, the luggage piece is superb, the Innagural items are truly historic. I'm extending an invitation to visit Southern California and to go to the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. If you get a chance you may wish to send some photos of the Innaugural items to the Library and ask about them, i am sure they will be able to give you information as a background.

Best wishes to you and be sure to Identify and label the stuff for future generations, as information can be lost quickly on these things.

Best regards,

.

Thanks guys.

I wear a 7 3/8....but since the hat has not been worn much in 30 years, it might have shrunk a wee bit. It is my first homberg. It will go nice with my tux...if it fits. I figure I couldn't lose at that price. I know it can sell for more.

Owner info.

If the owner was the same persons that used the numbered ball passes, you may be able to inquire with the Nixon Library to see if there is a guest list showing who got those numbered Ball passes.

I think the ticket stubs and key chain were worth more than the price you paid. That is a heck of a find! It would be interesting to track down information on its owner.

The box is really neat as well. Great find. I look forward to seeing it at the next QM.

Aaaahhhh!!!

I meant to bid!

Even though it's a 1960s hat it definitely has 1940s craftmanship. A brown leather band, not black!

Well done and I'm glad it was you.

PS - you could bring it to London if you have it by then.
