Anyone got any? I've decided on an order without one and am curious to see what folks have to say or pics of jackets, etc.

I've seen some from the day that way and also a bunch of 1940's-50's utility jackets with three piece backs (yolk and two lower back pieces) with no pocket. I guess you would do this to clean up or streamline a jacket.

Here's Mike Wolfe in his. Sorry only picture I could find in short notice.

Yup- I'd noticed how other jackets I own often didn't have one of these pockets and thought I'd leave it off. The only use I'd have for it (phone) might scratch the screen. Without a zip, the external pocket looks 'blazer-isa', so omitted it.

Tough to get both features in the same photo I imagine :)

The LVC 30's leather jacket had no chest pocket, there are photos of the original this was paterned from out there but couldn't find them just now. As an aside, had one of those breifly but the lack of any inside pockets as well meant I never wore it and so sold it on.

Fair enough. The chest pocket is about the only pocket I ever use in a jacket - phone, money, tickets, sunglasses - never scratched a thing in 20 years of having those pockets on a range of jackets. Plus I love the look of them, but I think the jackets look cool without them too. If the leather is nice and the thing fits, you can't go wrong.

Levi Menlo half belts don't have the pocket either. But they have cool piping.

There are at least 2 half-belts without chest pockets on the Aero sale pages right now. Hercules and a 1930's jobbie. I'm pretty sure it is a common mod.

I have three without chest pockets (all SB's) .. I NEVER use them so I figured why have them. I get the styling cues etc. but these were custom builds and in the interest of removing "clutter" didn't include them. It works really well and I certainly don't miss them. My Eastman Luftwaffe has TWO of them and I don't think they've EVER been unzipped never mind used :(

Below is my black goatskin Maxwell on the left and my seal jerky horsehide Mulligan on the right. With a buttoned jacket, I think the absence of a chest pocket might work better than with a zipped jacket that almost looks too plain without a chest pocket.

I think they look sexier like that when worn/patinated Takes the eye away from the void. But I do like Plumb's jacket too.
