Anyone have one? Should I get vintage black since I want a softer jacket or is the difference not that pronounced?

You keep asking the same questions I've had over the last couple of years. Vintage is clearly softer. Neither is soft, both are heavy. I bought a vintage in Cordovan, a regular FQHH in black. The vintage feels thicker and warmer, the normal different in a nice way. I'm happy with both.

Two FQHH jackets meets my needs for spring and fall. The next (ordered a while back) will be thinner and lighter, a summer jacket, then there will be a B-3, and that's it.

Hello,

I´ve got a black AERO Cafe Racer in vintage heavy frontquarter horsehide. The leather is outstanding. No marks, no crease, perfect plain leather.

What tonypaj says about the vintage leather is right. Touching is a real pleasure. I post pictures this evening.

Regards from Germany

Good evening,

here are the pictures of my Cafe Racer made from vintage horsehide. I would order that leather again, but only for a black one. The brown vintage horsehide I saw was smooth but I did ot like the colour. The brown does not look that significant than the black one. From my point of view the black looks better in vintage, the brown better in "normal" horsehide.

But see by yourself:

When I see it from the back I think about ordering the same again one size smaler in the body. This is a slim 44 with longer sleeves and body, but I afraid not getting the same plain leather again.

Do you think it is to big?

Sometimes I think yes, sometimes no. It is comfortable to wear and when I put my hands in the pocket, perhaps a mobile phone and a purse in the jacket, it is tight.

Smooth!

Wow Gancho! That jacket looks amazing, as does the Vanson Comet in brown horsehide you posted a while back. You seem to be a fan of the cafe racer style jacket--I am too. Do you have others in your collection? I'd love to see more pics.

I bought a used Aero HG-5 off ebay some time ago and I always thought the black FQHH used on it looked different from the basic black FQHH from Aero I see around here and on their website. It looks quite a bit like your cafe racer. I was always curious if my HG-5 was softened and lightly faded from the previous owner's wear, or if it was originally a "vintage" hide from Aero...Do you find that the "vintage" hide is slightly thinner than the normal Aero FQHH? Or thinner than the hide on your horsehide Vanson Comet? People are always commenting on the thickness of Aero's FQHH and mine just doesn't feel that thick. It's certainly nowhere near the thickness of the competition weight cowhide used in my Vanson Enfield.

Thanks!

Thank you for the compliment.

The leather is really thick. Never had the Vanson competion leather in my hands, so I can not say if it is thicker or thinner. But I do not feel any big difference to the Vanson horsehide. The Aero vintage feel a little bit like a thick, heavy, smooth rubber. A lot of my friends touch it and were amazased by the surface feel.

I´m a big fan of these kind of jacket, but I also like military jackets. I´ve got these 2 cafe racer jackets, an ANJ-3, a M422 and hopefully in a few days an Aero A2. I have had a Vanson Comet in black horsehide with splash pockets, sold to a friend. I will try to get pictures!

A Vanson Enfield is on the top of my wishlist. Can you post some pictures?

Here a daylight shoot of the Aero Cafe Racer in vintage black.
