My favorite house, Uranienborg.
The house is built in a style called Sveitserstil, popular in Norway in the late 1800s and through the early1900s.
Amundsen lived here from 1908 until his death in 1928.

Thanks for posting. I've always been fascinated by the ill-fated race to the South Pole. Scott used horses to pull heavily burdened sleds. The horses consumed great amounts of food and did poorly in the cold and snow. Ultimately, Scott and his crew had to pull the sleds themselves. Amundsen pulled lighter sleds with dogs and carried fewer provisions. His huskies were well adapted to Antarctic cold and performed splendidly. Amundsen was even able to feed lame dogs to the healthier animals as he traveled, thus reducing his need for dog food.

Amundsen won the race by a month or so, still narrow margin given the rate of travel in those days.

Scott paid for his miscalculations with his life.

It's got some highly inventive and unusual interior design. The glass windows in the doors in the hall way is actual photos - on glass, like "negatives"..you know, like it was back then. But he had made large ones as photo glass windows..I have never seen anything like it. And the motifs were from his expedition..of Eskimos.
Also notice the "rowing" exercise equipment, 20s style, in his office, on the floor in front of the glass porch door.

First, his office, "porthole bedroom" and bathroom.

Also, notice in the photo of the exterior - On the left, above the window, you can see two round tiny windows..that is his bedroom.
He had portholes in the bedroom so that it would remind him of his ship. You can see the bedroom in this video.
