People who talk to themselves

Okay, we've all got caught either talking or singing to ourselves...but, what about the people who go down the streets having full on conversations or cussing at absolutely no one at all? I've got one that daily goes walking past my house and is really starting to freak me out...do these guys freak you out as well? Or...are you that kind of 'person'?

Blue Tooth

You guys are totally WRONG!

I went up to a fellow employee the other day, and he was chatting away, alone. I was asking him something, no response! Then I realize he has a Blue Tooth in his ear..and he is on the cell phonelol lol lol

Now, drivers with the cell in their ear being a menace to the motoring public, you now have to see if the village idot talking to himself is not a normal guy on his Blue Tooth!!

I have heard that talking to one's self is an indication that the person is a deep thinker. Maybe this is so. I am not a shallow or vacuous person and I do in fact talk to myself sometimes. But only when I'm by myself.
The guy that talks to "the voices" when not using a cell phone probably has a few screws loose.

Wait until you begin talking back to them, actually have about a 15 minute conversation and then realize that, ack, they were never speaking to you at all to begin with....talk about village idiot.....lol

I talk to myself, but it's more like thinking out loud than having a full out conversation.




There is this guy on my street who seems like a regular normal guy, he's married, has a child and is very nice but, he does the weirdest thing. A few times a day, he walks up the street and screams at the top of his lungs "I'm Puerto Rico!(not I'm Puerto Rican, just as I wrote it). Or Let's go Weirfield, Let's go!(the name of my street). Or Teah!(his daughter's name, but he's not calling her). It always strikes me as weird becasue like I said, he seems normal [huh]

Its more than likely that he's a schizophrenic. Most schizophrenics aren't any danger to anyone. I take this very personally since my little brother is a paranoid schizophrenic (among other things.) It hurts me to think people might just look at him as being "crazy" because he's not crazy, he's sick. He was misdiagnosed for soooo long that he didn't get the right medication until just recently and it has made such a HUGE difference, he's a different person.

As far as calling the cops, there is nothing that they can do, because legally as long as there is no direct threat of harm they cannot take them. Locking up mental patients in subpar institutions just because they were different was one of the worst parts of our history in this country.

As far as calling the cops, there is nothing that they can do, because legally as long as there is no direct threat of harm they cannot take them. Locking up mental patients in subpar institutions just because they were different was one of the worst parts of our history in this country.

It's sad so many people still want to lock away individuals with mental and/or emotional issues. I'm sure there are those who are violent and a serious threat to others, but most are just like everyone else, except battling with real health issues.

I couldn't have said it better than you ladies did. I was thinking these same things as I was reading some of the seemingly self righteous posts on this thread that bordered on a mob justice mentality. Just because someone is born with a mental defficiency is no reason to point and laugh, while saying/thinking: "haha, look at the retard. Better call the guys in the white coats."

Sometimes I talk to myself when I'm working out math in my head, or going through some of the things I have to do that day. Sometimes it helps to say it rather than think it, almost as if it resonates with me more if I say it. "I have to go to the DMV, then pick up my dry cleaning .. the 163 freeway should probably be the best road to take at that time of day .. hmm .." Personally, I don't see what's so wrong with that, and I'm tired of being looked at like I'm insane any time a random stranger catches me doing it. Most people in this world wouldn't know what "normal" was to save their life, anyway. It's almost like high school all over again. "Gotta talk down about someone else to feel better about myself" kind of thing. That's really not on.

Most people who are schizophrenic are harmless. I've only been actually scared once or twice, because the poor guy was a) really BIG and b) really ANGRY and that's a combination I don't have the skills to deal with on the subway on my way to school.

You can't "call the cops" on someone for being sick and walking down the street. C'mon.

A little old man, 80 if he was a day, did give me the nod on the subway one of those times. The "if he grabs you, I'll protect you" nod, and I was SO glad Mr. WWII Vet was not put to the test because I would have worried about him as much as he worried about me. [huh]

If you live in any big city, youll see people too poor to have regular help out on the street in need of some meds. Its funny that one thing (I beleive in medication and its ability to help) can destinguish between a 'sane' person and a 'crazy'.

As for chatting up yourself, people say things aloud as a memorization tool. It creates a reality to the thought. I mean havent you ever seen something so stupid on the tube and just lost it: "Holy crap, I cant believe he did that! Are people that dumb?! Id beat him over the head with my mail box . . ."

Or at the picture show: "Girl dont go in that room, the killer is in there!"
