This is my new Montecristi straw fedora from our very own PanamaBob.

It did have a few brim issues.. but I knew that when Robert sent it to me.

But after I recieved it, I had and idea of what to do. I was going to send it to Mike Moore at Buckaroo Hatters.

Well it arrived today and ...
I will let the photos speak for themselves. I think Mike did a great job. And no one needs to be told Robert has great hats!

The brim was right at 2 3\4, after the trim Mike did, it is now right at 2 1\2 , I think the bound edge looks sweet! Then add the thin ribbon, man.. you have a winner there. I really think the ribbon has a vintage look to it.

 RBH, I like the c crown you put into the hat. I however am not sure about the brim. I am not partial to stingies, and that is how it appears to me. Seems as though the black brim binding draws more attention to the short brim. Maybe if the brim binding was in a softer color (cream/straw).JMHO

There is some unwarranted, unwanted, and unruly criticism of that hat happening you know where. It must be good to be the king of your own little kingdom where you pick and choose the subjects, huh? I've been waiting and waiting for my 1930 Montecristi from VA and it just doesn't seem to show up (lost by mail as one sterling chap states it).

The white Montecristi is something that we are experimenting with. We bought some rough bodies and had them bleached in Cuenca and pressed on the hat press there to see how they would turn out. They looked pretty good. Believe it or not, some people want black and brown Montecristis, so we're having a couple dozen of each dyed this summer.

Thanks to you guys that had a positive comment. The hat is what it is, and by no means junk. I will just tell you right out that Robert gave me this hat because he knew I had an idea to do one with a bound brim. Mike said he wanted to take it on and I AM SATISFIED with his work. And yes I like wider brims, but this gave me the idea of what I may have done in the future. So once again Thanks Robert and Thanks to you Mike.

As to the other stuff being said.. I have no idea why a certain someone wanted to drag me into his little world of name calling and back stabbing.
But as seen here by the lack of post on this hat, it is fairly easy to see the way the wind is blowing, even here on the lounge.

I like it, RBH. I'm thinking of having Art do a bound brim similar to the one he did for Razzman awhile back.

Yes, that is a sweet hat! That is the hat that made me want Mike to try it for me. I believe the ribbon is not as wide on mine [on the brim] as it is on Razz's. I myself like the thinner ribbon.

Bud.. none taken my friend!

I think the hat looks pretty damn cool myself RBH. You seem to be quite satisfied judging by your photos. I particularly like the brim to crown proportion, Its right up my alley.

I was planning a similar, thin ribbon/bound edge conversion to my Pachacuti so it was great seeing your hat as a reference. I like it!

Thanks my friend. I like a wider brim [re a prior thread]. But Roberts hats are great to work with . If you let him know, he will try and have you a hat by the time you need it, brim, crown and what everever. You just need to let him know in time.

RBH: If you by "Robert" mean "PanamaBob" I already decided to order my next Panama from him. What and when that will be is not yet decided though... we only have a few months of straw hat weather here in the north of Sweden. I have to confer with "She Who Must Be Obeyed" If I'm allowed another hat this summer. lol
