It was discussed a while ago on FL as well - last year when it came up for auction?
Technically not an A-1 (as it's the naval variant), but not splitting hairs...

I love old leather :) , the Mrs hates it.
I doubt there are enough examples around to get a generic copy made these days. Maybe most pockets were like this, or possibly in the low position, who knows. I like this position better than the repro's(I had an early Eastman) though do find the pockets next to useless.
But hey! Thats just my opinion ;)

Bill Kelso offer a nice example of this 'Admiral' 37J1 in capeskin - it really looks the part.
I have an A-1 from the same company (single button collar knit) in a darker cape and the workmanship is superb.
...and it'll be much, much cheaper than £1750

Yes, I started the thread. It has a really great red dragon painted on the shoulder yoke in back. The knit collar reminds me of 1950's varsity jackets.

Where do they offer this style of A-1? I see only the Gordon & Ferguson A-1. Thanks.

I believe so. It's the same capeskin that I have on the A-1 (albeit more russet) and it beautifully grained - exactly like originals - and pliable.
