Wonderful, wonderful images, Matt but what a nightmare. I don't like shopping at the best of times, so those pictures look like utter hell on earth to me! Thank goodness for the interweiser! :D

The man in the dark suit, on the left hand side of the last photo (looking upwards) - is he wearing Scott's perfect pants?

Look at all of those well dressed patrons! Do you know when the picture was taken (don't say 9:17 as seen in picture #2 :p )?

My goodness! And I thought it was bad the day after Thanksgiving! They certainly don't look as mean as a lot of the patrons do these days! lol

Ugh, shopping with the crowd. I hate it no matter how nicely dressed they are! :)
I wonder if those "Dollar Day" shoppers push and step over each other like our modern day bargain hunters?

Since "Song Of The Islands" with Betty Grable and Victor Mature is playing across the street at the Rialto, it's probably around springtime, 1942. (The Second Big Feature is probably Dorothy Lamour and William Holden in "The Fleet's In.") Anyone want to grab an early matinee?

Nice Pics

I was struck by the number of women wearing hats in those photos, compared to the number of women who wear hats today. Some nice hats on the men.

Sigh. Today, the image out the doors would probably be a blank, depressing suburban parking lot. Back then, it was a living street, with a thousand stories that were never told but existed in those signs and buildings.

Sigh.

Wow! How could I miss this one? That's great stuff, Matt. I love to see vintage crowd photos.

Now I must ask - What is that girl to the left of the Dollar Day sign wearing on her feet? Bandages?
(Get a load of those fonts!)
