New Suit

Hello Everyone,

I've been hanging around here for awhile, but never really posting anything, so I read up about posting photos and I'm going to give this a shot.

Anyhow, here's the story. My sister in-law was visiting this past weekend and we were showing her around Atlanta. Along the way, we ended up in Little Five Points, which just happens to be the home of Stefan's, the first vintage store I ever set foot in. I hadn't been inside in awhile as I always left there disappointed, not being able to find anything that fit (I'm 6'4" with relatively long arms). Well, I stopped inside anyway, and lo and behold, the first suit I took off the rack was a gorgeous 3-button single-breasted, with a belted back-- and it was about my size. Long story short, I now have vintage suit that I can actually wear. It is really a subtle window pane material with red and blue lines. I think it is a bit big on me.

What do you guys think? I would like a bit of cuff to show from the sleeves, but I guess I can live with that. And the waist and the chest are a little large, too, but with the beltback, I am afraid to let someone try to alter it.

Now all I need is a nice hat...

What do you guys think? I would like a bit of cuff to show from the sleeves, but I guess I can live with that. And the waist and the chest are a little large, too, but with the beltback, I am afraid to let someone try to alter it.

What do I think?! That is a great find. It looks great on you.
I wouldn't shorten the arms if I were you but I would let someone take in the waist if it were too big. That is about all I would let someone do to it---if it were me. Then again, with the waist on the suit, how much too big is it? Would wearing suspenders keep it up? I tend to like mine a little loose but that depends on the person.
That would be my dream suit in my size. You did well. :cheers1:

Oh man, too big for you, if you ever and I mean EVER decide to sell it, please let me be the first you consider!!! I'm just about 6'4" too.... I've never seen a Belted suit that long in my life! The fabric, the cut the, the... EVERYTHING!!! Just beautiful! I can't believe it, it looks so nice! I'd leave it alone!

Everything that everyone has said here is true. This suit is wonderful! I'm very glad that you know what you have, and that you're enjoying it.

Cuff'em!

Alter the sleeves and show some cuff!!!!!! A good tailor can do it without being destructive.

Nah...

Just needs longer shirt sleeves! I have suits with sleeves that long and I show shirt cuff when I wear my French cuffs. The shirt should hit about three quarters below the wrist... that's how I show some cuff. You want just a little to show... not a lot... don't want to have "Pee Wee" cuffs.

I'd leave it; just get a shirt with longer sleeves that's all. I think the coat fits perfect!

I think WildRoot kinda likes it.

And rightfully so! If Root and Marc say it's The Beans, that's the highest praise there is.

I really like it! Even better that a tall guy finally finds a winner. It's a secret here that we tall members get up in the morning and swing by here to look at all the perfect new suits being shown off by shorter guys so we can choke on our coffee! We've become covetous sinners.

Great suit, and I think it's about the right size. And you need a hat! Let's hope you're a 7&3/8 or smaller...
