New "Odd" Habit...

Damn you Fedora Lounge! Not only am I rapidly going through what little savings I have left, but I've also developed some other interesting habits of late as well. This place is going to earn me a beat down (severe thrashing for my friends across the pond). Lately I've developed the bad habit of staring at men in leather coats. Being secure in my manhood and knowing that I'm just trying identify the coat/jacket in question I do this as a reflex now. BUT here in the States, particularly in less "enlightened" environs, I've garnered a few angry stares in return. One guy was sitting outside a sandwich shop in a nice, thick, black leather jacket, a Cafe of some design. I knew it was NOT a mall jacket so I was staring at it quite hard. Next thing I know this guy is staring back, and NOT in a nice way. It was the all too familiar "you gotta problem" look that was quickly morphing into the "you wanna go" look. Had I been alone I would've stopped and explained what I was doing and asked him about the jacket but I wasn't so I didn't. This place is gonna get my ass beat if this keeps up.

Good stuff, Worf, and I can sympathize. I'm no smaller than you, but in Southern California, "bad looks" can go to a hail of bullets in a hurry, so I try to be discreet. I find that gawking at fellas wearing hats is usually safer, as we're all used to getting stared at when we wear those. Frank

Could be worse, you could find yourself checking out leather jackets - and I stress, it's the jackets - while you're driving. Would not want to explain that on an insurance claim: "Well, I was bowling down the Great Western Road, when I saw this guy wearing what I could have sworn was a Stockman in cordorvan. Anyway, it was a sweet jacket, it's next on my 'to buy' list, but I was so distracted trying to tell whether it was made from steerhide or FQHH, when I accidently mounted the pavement and, well, uh, you know the rest..."

I'm one of those guys that do it with jokes, bad habit but if I overhear someone telling a joke and miss the punchline I have no problem walking up to them and ask them to repeat it,so far I've never had a problem.I usually start the conversation by apologizing for eaves dropping. As far as jackets, shirts or other attire that peak your interest. I know if it was me that you were staring at and you said something to this effect,I'm sorry for staring but I just love your jacket that most guys are pretty narcissistic and wouldn't be offended at all.As far as the finger roll and wave good luck with that.As far as not being alone I do it with people present they don't seem to mind

Girls are so much more civilized about this than we are. They actually like it when other women check out their clothes.

Butte, just tell her the guys at the Lounge understand you in a way she never can. That should set her straight...

Well. I do love you in your jackets - esp when you're on one of the manly bikes. Oh gawd, I'm in trouble. She was right.
