Hello. I am always looking for large hat sizes as large hats are a rare bird at times. If I see anything for you I will let you know. Welcome to the Lounge also...great place to be.I'd like to say hello. Like many others, I've always admired the style and panache of men who wore fedoras. I'm 50 and I want to dress like a man. I no longer want to go out in public wearing shorts, t-shirts, or ball caps. Sadly, I'm cursed with a giant 7 3/4 head, which means I can't find vintage hats, but I'm buying new hats and trying to dress better. I appreciate all the style tips I've learned from you in the last few years.
Nice looking hat you are wearing,.,.welcome to the lounge!Good afternoon from San Diego. My name is Dan, and after a life thinking I could never wear a hat (baseball caps and beanies look terrible and I assumed everything else would), I found a Panama hat that worked. This realization sent me on an vast search for the exact panama hat I wanted that ended with me settling on a Cuenca with a very fine weave from the Ecuadorian company, Homero Ortega, blocked to their cavalier style with a navy grosgrain bow (picture attached). Brief shout out to them... they seem to be a great company and worked with me to make exactly what I wanted via Facebook messager, and the hat has a great weave for the money. I believe this is just the beggining of my journey into hats, and look forward to learning lots from all of you.
Howdy there!Hi there!
I'm new here, looking for like-minded people. I live in the NYC area and am looking for a social life outside of the comedy scene that I'm heavily entrenched in. I love cocktail culture, swing music, and jazz. I'm particularly enamored with Art Deco interior design and architecture. I also love the vintage clothes of the 40's and 50's. On a budget, it's hard to start an adequate collection, but you have to start somewhere.
I'd love to meet more people like me in my area who appreciate the past.
Welcome to the lounge...Allow me to introduce myself, my friends call me Chris...but my enemies call me their worst nightmare. Lol. But I actually joined roughly 2 hours ago I'd guess its been but I've got a pretty random reason for what set my joining the site in motion.
But this is the series of events which caused me to be here...
Was watching a movie earlier (Drugstore Cowboy -1989) and in the film theres a scene where a character gets really mad about a hat being left laying on the bed. There wasn't much explanation to why it enraged him more than I felt necessary so after the movie ended I still wanted to know what was the big deal about the hat on the bed.
So a Google search landed me on a thread about random and obscure superstitions, read through all the posts and gathered the believed origin of the superstition and some other possible ways it could have gotten started. So, that was solved but in some of the posts people sited movies with scenes about the "Hat left on a bed" superstition...To my surprise this movie wasn't mentioned so I created an account to add to the discussion.
*FYI the movie was fantastic, way better than I thought it would be. Would recommend giving it a watch one day*
Hopefully everyone has a good day, don't be afraid to say hello and introduce yourself...I'm looking for some like minded people and promise I'm pretty easy to get along with.
Thanks for reading this, AlphaOmega716 ( AKA Chris )
Welcome...we have some members from Texas here so you are in great company!I found this forum a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed the hat conversations. I'm a retired corporate exec. living in Dallas, and am so old & boring that I can actually use my real name here.
I enjoy vintage items, probably because I grew up with some and lived in the era of others. My style is pretty much rumpled casual, but it is indeed a style, and it suits my present circumstances.
Looking forward to enjoying the Lounge.

Glad to see you again Frank.Hello everybody, haven’t been in in ages ,not a new member but I’ve been gone way too long hope everyone is doing well !
Hi, I'm a little bit of new and a little bit of old. I spent lots of time on the Fedora Lounge about 8 or 10 years ago. I just kind of faded out because life got in the way. Moved, new job, kept having kids (how did that happen?), another new job, etc...
I'm am hopeful that I will be on here much more and see some of my old friends like Lizzy (forgot the rest of her avatar name), Big Man, and a few others.
It is good to be back.
Thanks! Great to be here!Welcome back!
Greeting from a new member. My name is Kane. I found this place from doing searches on the internet about hats. Every search on fedoras led to here. So, I’ve been hanging out reading for a while and I’m really impressed by the breadth of content. I’ve got a few hats; I also collect tobacco pipes, vintage saxophones, and I have a few old typewriters and fountain pens that I like to write with. I live just outside of Los Angeles in a 1928 Spanish Revival home that is badly in need of restoration. I think this will be a good place for me to be for some style immersion therapy as I work on my home and try to get out more. Glad to have found you and to be here!
Cheers!
