I just won an ebay auction for a bulky item. The seller guesstimated shipping at $25 but noted that they will paypal invoice for any difference once they know the shipping destination and can calculate true shipping charges.
So, should I pay for the auction NOW with the $25 shipping and then pay the seller outside ebay for any difference?
Or, should I click the "request total from seller" that appears when you are in the payment screen? Would this mean he would have the option to invoice me for the item and the correct shipping all in one shot through Ebay?
I just have this skepticism that I could pay for my item and the $25 shipping and if he's a scammer, he could invoice me outside ebay for some astronomical amount and threaten not to ship if I don't pay it. I know, I'm terrible! I just worry about strange stuff! I suppose if that happened, I could still rely on Ebay to arbitrate as the item would have been paid for already.
