I've just bought a 1941 Buick Special twin carb 4 door sedan.
I have been over to North Carolina to see her, and she's sweet. I was so thrilled to finally see her in the tin (so to speak).
You see, I have been looking at buying a 1941 Buick 4 door sedan fastback, in earnest now for about a year.
Whilst initially being drawn to the big fat grills of the late forties cars I eventually realised that my passion lies in the late 30s, early forties era.
I didn't want a 30s car, and I fell in love with the 1941 Buick.
Not the 1940 Buick, not the 1942 Buick, but the 1941 model.
It was so advanced for its time, the same basic car and shape was used for years post war.
So, I've been searching on the internet regularly.
My criteria were pretty specific:
I'm not a mechanic, so it had to be mechanically perfect
I'm not a restorer, so it had to be aesthetically perfect
I wanted a four door
I wanted to get it from someone who knows these cars
Another restored Special sold for $29k a few months before thru' Motor Car Portfolio, a consignor.
The car I'm buying has never been restored. Yes it's an unusual story:
First, here she is:
