My Gus Miller Hat

Yep, while visiting Batsakes Hat Shop I bought a Gus Miller custom hat. Well, not really custom as it wasn't made specifically for me, but it was made by Gus Miller. I like it! It's my anniverary present from my wife.

It's a medium brown color with a dark brown ribbon. The stats on it are as follows:

Brim: 3"
Ribbon: 1 5/8"
Crown at front: 4 1/8" high
Crown on side at highes point: 5"

The bash is the one that was in it when I tried it on. I may leave it as it is, may change it later. The felt feels good and substantial. Gus said he's having problems getting felt bodies like that any more. It's a shade too large but I'll get a couple of the felt sizers to deal with that!

I am going to have to make thee trip, it seems . . .

Well, as soon as I can get out of my house (I am currently snowed in), I am going to have to make the trip to Batsakes. I bought my first (Non-goodwill/garage sale) fedora at Paragon in Cincinnati, and never tried Batsakes . . . When Paragon (which was a beautiful, old style shop, by the way) went under in the late 80's or early 90s I never looked at replacing it with a local shop . . .

So, I will take my checkbook and check out Gus Miller's establishment at the earliest possible opportunity, and report back to you all.
