My first vintage fedora!

Had to share some pics of an antique store find...$54 for a Dobbs 15 in very good condition. Now I'm starting to understand the fuss over vintage felt...this hat is very lightweight...thin felt, but smooth and seems very dense. Still need to stretch it slightly. The pics of me are the actual color with normal indoor light.

I would appreciate feedback on how this looks with my "short, full" face. My preference is only positive, glowing feedback ...just kidding, I welcome honest input.

Look guys, the new kid in town already has the "Douglas look" down. :eusa_clap Just kidding. It is a beautiful hat, for sure. I'll leave the how does it look on you comments for the more knowledgable. But, a word of advice-follow the threads about stretching closely. I cracked the leather sweatband of my first vintage like a Dumb A** because I didn't figure out how to do it right before I started.

I actually think it looks great on you :)
But I think it would look better on me (hint hint)
Just kidding, it's a great hat and 54 is a great price.

Hawkhat, You found a good hat, at a fair retail price. (If you keep this up, and you will, there will be far greater bargains, from time to time.)
The hat looks good. It may or may not be your perfect hat, but it's definitely a keeper. Keep your eyes open for a 2 5/8" brim. I think you'll like what it does for you. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

thanks for the comments, gentlemen

Jabos--yeah, I was going for a mean "Douglas", not sure I pulled it off :) ...I've read a bunch of threads on hat stretching, and I'm going to do it gradually

thanks Bobalooba and J.T.--I've been migrating towards the larger brims...the Dobbs is a 2 1/4, which may be a bit shy to balance the crown height for my face shape...I do have some 2 1/2 brim hats that look more balanced.

I have the "full-face" thing goin' on myself, and while I have a hat or two with brims about that wide, I do gravitate towards the wider ones. 'Course in your pictures you have that mug-shot lighting effect......probably we all, along with our hats, are better seen under less-intense illumination.
