Being a newbee here I've been going thru posts and I see there are a few (pardon the pun) former fellow leathernecks that post here. Just curious how many.
Can we muster by 1300? I know not a jarhead site but I was curious, thought I might know some one...

1st Bn 9th Marines, 1st MarDiv, Okinawa/Pendleton. 80 to 84, missed most of the good stuff. Joined to kill Iranians, because of the hostage situation. Reagan got elected and they were let go. The Marine Barracks was bombed in Beiruit. I was in Pendleton and didn't get to wreak havoc in Lebanon like my 2nd MarDiv brothers. I was short when Panama and Granada came around so I missed those two also.

I did some neat stuff in Central America in the early 80s, I was in Honduras, El Salvador and Costa Rica for a few weeks when there was some problems. I'm a Jungle, Mountain and Desert Expert. I'm a Shellback, and I've been on a WestPac Deployment, I was with a Marine security Detachment at NAS Sigonnella Sicily. I've been up in an F14, and more C130s and 131s than I can remember. More Navy LSTs, LSDs, and LHSs than I can remember.

MOS 0311, Freaking backbone of the Marine Corps, Semper Fi Mac....

Hey Bro guess theres allot guys U.A.? 73-77 just missed Nam. Joined to go. CH-46 Crewchief. Flew almost everyday. Boot San Diego, Flight and Basic Helicopter School Millington Tenn. Specific Helo School New River then HMT 204. Overseas HMM 164 Futenma Okinawa, HMM 165 Cubi Piont P.I. and also deployed from Subic(Cubi Point) USS Tripoli and USS Okinawa. HMM 263 New River. Shellback.

What name honors the Air Force? Aside from "fly boys"? And what about the Coast Guard? I love the services...

I wish, really, that it was MANDATORY for all men and women to serve two years before ever going on to college or a job. No exceptions except for idots, crooks, gang bangers, and dopers.

I understand Sweden and other European countries do so.

Kids like me were safe at home in our classroom thanks to valliant men like you over seas. I regret, as a kid during those years, we weren't told much about it.

That was the "Leave it to Beaver" era. At home we were clueless. Then the radicals got active...
