So, you finally got that special person alone, and your 78 collection is there on standby.

What do you put on when you want to make something special happen?

I don't have it on 78 sadly, but I have a both vinyl and CD of a few Jackie Gleason albums. Music for Lover's Only and Music to Make You Misty. Bobby Hackett absolutely kills on trumpet on those records.

I Thought About You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q780d5_Lts

It may have a schmaltzy string section, but Hackett comes in at 1:10....

"Tight Like This"

One of the most stunningly sensuous pieces of music that I've ever heard,
though perhaps the little vocal interjections are not entirely fortunate.

Seduction to me for the most part means, “smoldering”. It’s hard to beat Dinah Washington in that department.

So In Love

Another top pic in the smoldering department would be Georgie Fame’s “It‘s For Love The Petals Fall”. This is a hard record to find. Unfortunately “Sound Venture” is only available as an out of print Japanese import cd, but it is well worth getting if you can get your hands on it.

Willie Bobo - The Look Of Love
Willie was a percussionist, not a singer. But he loved to sing. Because of the arrangement, this is even better than Dusty’s, which is no mean feat.

Tito Puente- Estoy Siempre Junto A Ti
What a gorgeous sound. What a beautiful tune. It doesn’t get better than this.

Tito Rodríguez - Llanto De Luna

Lush baby! Love the Flutes.“Llanto De Luna” means “Rain From The Moon”.

Ocho - Undress My Mind
Ocho – One of the great "unknown" bands.

Joe Cuba - To Be With You
If you had a nickel for every time this was played at a wedding in NY over the last 40 years….

Another Joe Cuba Masterpiece "Mujer Divina"

Not on 78...

But Sinatra's version of "Night and Day" is absolutely stunning. Slow dance to that song and you'll change your whole relationship.

For a complete album, you could do a lot worse than Sinatra's "Songe for Swingin' Lovers"...
http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Swingin-Lovers-Frank-Sinatra/dp/B00000AEVA

For Sinatra I would go with “Where or When” (I also like Sinatra/Basie “I Only Have eyes for you).

What a great song.

Oscar Brown does a less seductive version perhaps, but he swings the sh*t out of it.

In fact it's such a great song, I haven't heard a version I didn't like. I mean go on youtube and you'll find versions by Shirley Bassey, Peggy Lee, Lena Horn, Diana Krall, and many, many others (digging the Johnny Smith/Stan Getz version right now), and they're all good. Though I had to load the Oscar Brown version myself.

Mrs. Chaddsley_Corbett, those were great. I never heard of Jeri Southern till now.

My nomination for dreamy, seductive music is "Moonglow" - the version by Morris Stoloff that was in the movie Picnic. Here it is without the dialog, although the visual of William Holden and Kim Novak in the dance scene in the movie, along with the music is simply steamy:

I won my Better Half one night many years ago by playing Alice Nielsen, Maria Ivogun, and Moritz Rosenthal records, oddly enough.
