Military Hat Photos

It does have that German flavor to it but some how I think they would have used better materials. My thought is that it could be a foreign volunteer or a facsist organization from northeastern Europe like Estonia or there abouts. I have several books on caps and I have never seen this type of emblem or eagle.

I wouldn't count out it being of German manufacture just because of the materials. I have an original WW2 German shirmutze and the quality is likely even lower than the hat you have. The visor is plastic/composite of some sort, the hatband is rubberized canvas and the fabric has a very high synthetic content.

Early-war or pre-war German hats were very high quality, but for late war German uniforms and hats they conserved materials where they could and often sacraficed quality.

Here is nice looking German cap. It is not Military,most likely a government organization. It is beautifully made.

Here is an earlier East German Cap. Looks to be Customs.

This hat is well made. Not like the later models and unlike the photos.

East German? I'm not so sure. Yeah, the cap's overall shape, the cord, and the wreath around the cockade(?) are all extremely germanic, but the cockade is not DDR and the eagle is unlike any East German graphic style I've ever seen.

My guess is that it's some civilian organization's uniform cap, perhaps an airline, and perhaps not even from anywhere in Europe. after all, there are some South and Central American countries that are rather fond of German military fashion trends, particularly from the 40s.

German WWII Customs
This is a beautiful cap.It has some damage to the front portion of the band behind the brim.It took me a while to find one that looked decent.

I can't be 100% possitive that this is real but it has all the bells and whistles and the hat body is made from great material.

Italian-Navy Black wool with white cotton cover.

I have this complete uniform.It is white linen/cotton. This one I believe to be real.

Douglas, should let you know how much I enjoy your military hat photos! Used to have a few M-43 repros at one time, and have to confess a real love for Afrika Korps Caps and those camo hats the Waffen "you-know-what" produced, in Plaintree pattern preferred! Keep 'em coming!

About the italian caps, the first one, produced by "Berretificio (cap-maker) Piedimonte, praised by His Royal Highness the Prince of Piedmont" looks like belonging to a cavalry (I'd say Dragoons) officers;
the second one is produced by "Unione Militare", a brand that's still operating (I own one shirt made by them) and it's definitely Artillery;
the Navy one has an interesting symbol I've personally never seen on modern caps, but I'm sure I've noticed it somewhere in internet sites about Regia Marina etc.; I'd say Naval Engineers, but I could be wrong.

Do you really own the whole uniform?

Interestingly, modern day italian navy officers are unsatisfied with issued caps, so practically each one of them uses american caps (Bancroft) with italian embroidery.

I'm looking around now hoping to find some new infos about these caps!
