Ladies & Gents.

Last Sunday I had my first meet with a real live tailor!
Mr. Jeswani from ravistailor.com was in town, and although my research as to the actual quality I could expect met with mixed results; I decided to go for it.
A bespoke three-piece suit, cloth: Harris Tweed (of course).

Measurements were taken, samples were considered, multiple offers on "bonus for ordering quantity" were deflected.
Although he managed to talk me into ordering a summer-shirt for my linen suit.
Suckered me with offering 4" pointed collars...

I had chosen the "style" I wanted before I showed up.
Ignorant as to the accuracy and vintagity(!?) of the style?
Sure, I am still but a bud in the glorious tree of men's fashion,
but I liked the look of it, not to mention the lapels on the waistcoat.

I think this is the cloth I chose.
Felt that Harris Tweed was the safer bet qualitywise.

So; 4-6 weeks pregnancy awaits.
All I wish for Xmas etc...

Wow. The fabric is really beautiful. Congratulations! I would have ordered wide trousers legs for a 30s look but I am not sure if it is important for you. It looks really good for 1920s

Lovely suit. Puts me in mind of the twenties too. I've often wondered whether Ravis would do something with a wider 30s style leg; it's typically the trousers I find are the sticking point for what I want with most contemporary M2M stuff.

Nicely done. I like the 3-to-2 roll. My only quibble is the funky button "anchors." I was under the impression that jacket front buttons shouldn't be stitched through to the other side of the material. Otherwise, that is one of the best Ravi suits I've seen -- they even seem to have gotten the high armholes right.

That's a very nice looking (and fitting) suit. I've been doing business with Ravistailor for about six years and have always been pleased with their quality and fit.

Thank you guys.
Opinions much appreciated.

All in all I must say that I found my début with M2M and Ravistailor a positive experience.

However; I agree with the criticism offered.
I would indeed have preferred the trousers to be "baggier" and the waistband to be higher.
As you might (undoubtedly) have noticed; my gut is somewhat pronounced...
Must confess to being fond of my ales.
My instinct suggests that a higher waistband (is that the correct description?) would fill up the wasteland (!) between where my gut ends, and my waist begins.
What do you think?

The woman of the house suggested ordering a second pair of pants in the same fabric.
Good idea, me thinks. Will probably do that.
Could anyone point me in the right direction and supply a picture or two?
Would be nice to be able to attach some pictures when I order.

Mr. Tzedekh

You mentioned that you liked "the 3-to-2 roll".
What exactly is that?

I also found another Harris Tweed when I met with Mr. Jeswani.
A light brown variety.
I might in fact order an Identical suit in this fabric.
Mix & match!

And then there is a pinstripe...
And a dinner suit...
And... And... And... And...

The lapel rolls to the middle button on a three-button jacket. This was commonly seen on by Brooks Brothers suit jackets and sportcoats. On further inspection, yours is more of a 3-to-2.5 roll -- the lapel rolls to a point between the top and middle buttons. In my book, even nicer than a straight 3-to-2.

I had the same thought as Widebrim, quite clever Sir. I do not mean to be rude, but might I ask what the suit cost you?
I think it is fantastic work and may be ordering from them sooner or later.

By all means; t'was a bit on the expensive side...
On the other hand; the fabric should probably take the blame for that.

I paid 750 Euro for the suit and a shirt.

That is a beautiful suit. Interesting tattoos too, are they for anything in particular, children or something?

Thank you.

My tats is not inspired by family.
I like to describe them as "stickers on a suitcase".
Small ritualistic celebrations of myself at different stages in my life.

Started whith home made tats when I was 18.
Will keep at it until I; (drumroll please), am meeting my maker. ;-)

Greetings Loungers.

Met up with Mr. Jeswani (master tailor) again last night.
Told him that I was interested in an additional pair of trouses, cut in a 30s - 40s style.
He showed some knowlegde, and more or less exactly described what I wanted, without me showing him the pictures I had brought along for reference.
Made a good impression on me, that did...

If the trousers comes through, I will surely order another suit from them.
Same cut, different fabric...
He offered a nicer price for the next three-piece.
500 Euro = 665 USD.
Cant argue with that...

I also comissioned an ebony shirt, with a classic pointed collar.
Will post pictures when the garments arrives.
