There's a kind of cool movie about the life of Legs Diamond called "The Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond", from 1958, starring Ray Danton. The explanation I've read for his nickname was that he had been a ballroom dancer at some point early in his career. Seems like Legs was really kind of a loser. He got shot a lot of times and he may have survived but was in worse shape after every incident. He came to a pretty squalid end. Another case of a two bit thug being turned into a legend.
But a cool car. Definitely a cool car.
I used to live next door to a house alleged to have belonged to Diamond. 38 First St, in Brooklyn, if you want to look it up. He supposedly bought it for his mom or his sister or something. No verification on that, but a cool story nonetheless.

Oh...nice! There is a Henry Ford museum here in Michigan, they have some wicked old cars there!

Several years ago I saw a big old Cadillac that had supposedly belonged to Al Capone parked at a local shopping center. Beautiful car. Black with a golden-colored velvet interior. The front of the passenger compartment was narrow -- just enough room for a driver and a gunsel. The back seat was wider (fortunately for Big Al). By chance, the Caddy was parked next to a modern-day Chevrolet Suburban, so it was easy to compare their sizes. Height and length were about the same, but the Suburban was a lot wider.

I think this old car was a steal for the price paid....I would have loved to buy it!
