Got it for my Birthday. Nice excuse. I've lusted after the right one. Gone through a few that didn't work. This one will work until another comes along.

Below is a custom 46 with Collar that was just too big for me. The 42 came along and I had to try it on. The 46 just was not going to be worn so it moved on.

I'll keep this one till a 44 comes along.

The 46

Interesting how the difference in the fit seems only marginal on the photos. They're both awesome though I kinda prefer the details of the 46 though buttons are way cooler than snaps. These leather trucker jackets are awesome, I really need one too. Good quality one, that is. Thank you for sharing!

The one with the buttons has much better workmanship in the front. It makes the one with the snaps look blah.........

Fit on both looks great and remarkably similar across the large range in size. Absolutely love the mouton collar.

Yes, the 42 is much sharper, has a crisp hand, The 46 wore like a coat and I was probably 20 pounds heavier. When LW says a size they mean that size. I've owned enough of them to have learned.

I think this one is a bit special, just the hide I was looking for. The 46 was just a bit thick. If I was going to order one I was use this as an example of what I wanted.

Absolutely love the mouton collar.

It was an outstanding piece of work. I was so impressed I wrote LW to ask about one for my Test. I was told it would not work on the Test collar. I sold the Collared one. It was just too big for me.

I owned the Size 46 for awhile and sold it to Terry. It really was a great jacket but when I purchased it the sleeves were 23.5" long and they had been shortened incorrectly. I got in touch with Stuart and he put new sleeves on the jacket at 26" which allowed for riding. The horsehide was super thick and bullet proof. The jacket snaps really set the whole jacket off I thought; maybe snaps aren't pure tradition but they are really nice and easy to use. That collar was fantastic! The Ginger colored sheepskin was gorgeous and the shape was perfect in that it wasn't too bulky. I would add that after I picked it up off the bay the seller sold me the Horsehide britches as well; again phenomenal, but unfortunately a bit too short like the sleeves. I had to let the horsehide pants go but the buyer thought they were the best leathers he'd ever owned so they obviously fit the next guy and are probably being used today. In the end I let the jacket go for the same reason as Terry just a little too large after I lost some weight.

Did not know the History with the 46. Thanks for sharing. I wanted it to fit, but just wasn't going to happen. I'm really liking the leather on the 42. It is as stiff as a board and somehow works on that jacket.

What I especially like, on the old type III-design, is, that it's in fact a short blouson-jacket, but not looking like the classic motorcycle/flight-blouson jackets. I don't like the classic blousons with the knit cuffs that much.
But, the type III-design conceals the blouson-type in a perfect sporty way, I think.

Here's mine. German maker. Very well made. It's an actual motorcycle jacket, with armor pockets and all. Very heavy leather. Made in the 80's I think? Had it for years but only used it on a bike as a foul weather jacket and never really thought much of it. I think I may have wore it more than any other jacket that I have.

Yes indeed. Very Nice. Great Style and detail. I like snaps.

I like snaps.

I agree.

I have one with buttons and one with snaps (see above). I have to say that split hide is so thick that the jeans type buttons are pretty hard to fasten.

When Ken made the Lee jacket for me, we wanted it to emulate my old Levi Split hide, so we went with snaps. For more serviceable.

Got it a special reason, if the Cord got a second layer at the button-tape on a type III-cord jacket? Anyone knows? Strengthened button-tape, maybe??

Here's another HighLarge product

They are mouth watering. They came up in another thread. I looked at them again today. There largest size 42 would probably fit like my new LW. I'll never see one other than order a new.

Lost Worlds does this as well as anyone. I would think a new from LW sould be $1000. He know how to sew Horsehide.

I like everything I see from them. I'd do just what they are doing if I had the stuff, just that. Maybe some day I'll talk to them about the fit.
