I'm on the look out for some Vintage 6 7/8 pork pies, fedoras, and other such hats of felt or straw. 6 7/8 is a hard size to find as it is quiet small, smaller than a new size small even.

Luckie,
you're lucky. I see quite a few 6 7/8 sized fedoras on ebay all the time. Just check there, you will find them. And welcome to the lounge, we're glad to have you.

I have a few. Some in decent condition, some kinda beat up. Especially 60's vintage stingies, and a nice straw boater. I'll get pics up in a day or two.

I thought the same thing Sam Jonnyphi.

There are 21 great vintage hats at 6 7/8 on the site.

As a newbie you haven't reallised that there are ton's of that size out there. People with larger head have a much harder time with hats than
someone with a smaller head consider yourself lucky. Your main problem will be affording all the hats you can buy if you get the collector fevor.

BOLLOCKS! :eusa_doh:

Your most difficult task will be storage!
As a 6 7/8 the WORLD (of vintage hats) is yer oyster! As a 7 3/8 I will pay from 5-10x as much for the same hat!

Microcephalics are sure some lucky devils! :D

As usual, Blaine hit the proverbial nail on the head

BOLLOCKS!

I found a new condition, gray Stetson Whippet at a local thrift store this past winter .... I mean this thing could have still gone on the store shelf ... and it was only a few bucks ... but it was also only a 7

I bought it and gave it to a pin-head buddy of mine

Must be nice!

Thanks guys. When I lived in NOLA I found my size was an easy find at thrift stores, now that I live in the country in SC, thrift stores are rare and hats even more so, unless it's a ball cap.

Now, now - hang on a minute, guvnor!

Being a tiny 6 7/8 egghead myself I can definitely say that storage space is NOT the problem, at least when you're looking for certain characteristics in a hat. Yes, there are many 6 7/8s out there - but personally I wouldn't want to wear even just the tiniest fraction of these. I haven't bought a new hat in ages, simply because the ones I'm looking for turn up only very occasionally, to say the least. Plus, the prices for smaller hats have gone up considerably over the past two years. Granted, a 7 3/8 might probably go for more money most of the time, but then you bigheads usually have a lot more interesting hats at your disposal.

Amen! ;)

I have two 6 7/8 hats in original boxes. A Stetson 25 OR and a Stephen Stetson. Both from mid 1950's
They are in truly remarkable shape. I don't think you'll find any finer. If interested please PM me.

Found some nice straw vintage hats, also found a place in MS that repairs straw and felt hats, as well as reshapes them.
