Hi Fellow Loungers

I am looking for a 20-30's vintage classic Gray "Sharkskin" color fedora. Like a Stetson Packard that will go with Gray or Blue suits

Thanks for any ideas!

The most obvious place to look would be ebay. Larger sizes such as yours (and mine) are a bit harder to come by. Brim and crown sizes, although in 'normal' fedoras varying by barely an inch, make a big difference in the look of the hat on your head.

I say this as if youre a new hat wearer. If youre not, and youve 'been around,' so to speak, I apologize. Just tryin ta help. :)

In that size, a hat from the '20s-'30s is going to be extremely hard to find, and extremely expensive if you manage it.

You might check at whatever antique malls and estate sales Austin has to offer, but as Dinerman said, something that old in that size would be a rarity. You'll have better luck, perhaps, finding a 50's or 60's hat, some of which are real beauties. Best of luck!

Really appreciate the ideas so far!

Being a Texan from Austin I know more about western hats and currently the only Fedora I have is an Indy wool Brown that is great but too informal and on the edge of western/outback looking to wear with my suits.

@ Scotty - I will try ebay to see what they might have and I need to get remeasured to assure size as I know you are right on fit.
@ Dinerman - Could be $ but maybe I can find a deal :)
@ Randooch - I have been checking the vintage stores found some deals but were all 7" or less..... estate sale is a great idea!

Thanks again

In the past month I have been on the search for a classic and luckily a FL member had one for sale. I watch eBay everyday and will be tough with so many bidding on vintage Fedoras, especially rare finds and you will spend lots of pesos, maybe not as much as a custom Optimo in Shark skin color.

Good Luck
