I saw a jacket style I wanted on there a year or so back. I won't say what or which. I'm kinda embarrassed by it now. Bottom line is I paid good money for a Jacket back on September 14th, 2014 and here it is July 2015 and no jacket. The guy has his jackets made by Vanson NOT Good Wear so this length of wait is completely un-called for. I've written him several times and the last response I got was in April AFTER I posted on his Facebook page that he is basically a thief. And the response I got then was a "due to the snowy winter" we couldn't make jackets form letter. It's well past the PayPal window so now I'm reduce to a war of attrition. I'm going to post here, YELP, Facebook again and any other forums I can find and warn people off this thief.

Yes, I believe Vanson closed for a few days for the snow... pretty sure that shouldn't translate into a 10 month wait. Thurston has a special project with them and those custom jackets come out in about 2 months. Ridiculous. I hope you at least get a great jacket.

Dave, I'm sorry to hear something like this having happened to you. At this time, what has the seller told you regarding the transaction, and when does he plan to deliver the jacket you paid for? I think the timeframe for opening a PP dispute is now 180 days? I don't think I would use PP for any goods that might take longer than their rules allow for opening a dispute. I hope you receive the jacket you paid for but might be stuck? I'm sure other members here appreciate your words of warning regarding your experience with Logan's Closet that seems similar to what some members have experienced with Lawless Denim.

You should go to the filmjackets forum, he is a regular member over there and post quite often on different threads.

I would be cautious with accusations such as thievery, especially if I lived in a country with a legal system as absurd as in the USA (no offence intended dear patriots). Did you ask him to return your Money or have you only asked for updates on your order? If civil law is somewhat comparable to ours, you do have a right to withdraw from contract and demand back your Money under the given circumstances. If he refuses (or already refused) to do that, then he is a fraud.

Anyway, sucks to hear how that business went down for you, hope it works out for you and you get back your money. I'll certainly stay away from them.

Thanks for the words of caution.

At this point, I think I would be trying to get my money returned rather than the jacket. If something is not right with the jacket, doubt you would get much satisfaction.

Hiss home page has a warning that the jackets may take an extended period of time, and the he says a 40% deduction(!) will be taken off cancelled orders. Nevertheless, there is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior. How long does it take to answer an email? Have you tried calling Vanson? I can't imagine they'd want their name associated with a guy like this.

+1 to this. He does seem to post over there occasionally. I've heard of this before, that jackets from him take a VERY long time but from what I gather people seem to get them eventually.

I've also heard that communication from him isn't exactly flowing but if you make a big enough deal of it on film jackets.com you think he will have to respond?

Did he say at any point of the transaction that it would take year or more?

So sorry to hear about your situation. I've often wondered about the Logan's Closet jackets on ebay. If you purchased the jacket through EBAY, I would contact them about it. Even though the statue of limitations is up, they would want to know about a bad vendor, and might offer you some recourse, given the situation. Worth a try. Thanks for the warning.

Can't say anything about Logan's Closet as I haven't actually done any business with them, but then again perhaps I can because I must've sent Dan about a dozen inquiries regarding two jackets I wanted to get thru him (no shame in admitting I wanted and still do The Wild One Perfecto and Dr. House Model B) and never got a single response back. I've given up since, because I don't enjoy feeling like an idiot.

Truth be told, I'm also a member on filmjackets.com and from what I know, thus far, Logan's Closet always delivered jackets to the utmost satisfaction of their customers, judging from how happy everyone was with their jackets. Plenty of 'em being showcased in member's section of the site (visible only to members) so I reckon they're legit - or at least used to be.

Worf, come on, man; what jacket are we talkin' about? :D

I've read about Dan's poor customer service for a long time. I wanted to buy a Vanson half-belt from him but decided against it. I understand people's jackets do arrive and are well made but the delay and lack of communication is extraordinary. I guess Dan has a real job or other commitments and when it comes to jackets he's a dilettante.

Still, when you advertise a business and people send you money, you're morally obligated to keep them informed (not to mention that it makes good business sense). I can't stand these people who, once they've got your money, act like they're doing you a huge favor by calling you or emailing. Worf's doing the right thing by showing other folks what a primadonna this critter is.

+1. There's no excuse. It may seem like a hobby but the moment other peoples money gets involved, it becomes a real job and the only commitment one should be dedicated to.

Thanks for the love and encouragement folks. I don't want to start a full scale war against this guy and I'm certainly NOT going to give him 40% for doing nothing but I see little choice in the matter. As for the jacket, it was a Modified "First Avenger".... think Aero Bootlegger with a bit more dash... but since ordering I purchased an Aero Bootlegger from the sale page and I love it. Sigh... I've an ANJ-4 on order from GoodWear. J.C. has initiated correspondence to me on several occasions and responded to EVERY email and Aero and Johnson Leathers have been equally accommodating. There's no need for this guy to run a business this way....

When I got started, a guy I know had lots of incredible jackets made by him. He was a guy that spent loads on jackets. Never had a bad word to say. His Wolverine jackets were amazing.
I've not had contact with my pal in a couw years. He never replied to emails and vanished.
I hope you get satisfaction Worf. Nothing worse than a wait and no product. And salt to the wound, no comms.
Keep us posted.

probably since people mentioned the jacket is actually made by Vanson, then probably he only does pattern, and send it to Vanson, so he doesn't know how to respond until the jacket is send back to him... I can imagine a single custom spec jacket won't be in high priority for Vanson, especially if the color is also not black, since Vanson's own jackets are mostly black so they need to change thread color on their sewing machines just for a single piece... I can imagine if the project is sidelined.

and then replying with something like "I don't know the situation of your order right now, because the manufacture has not sent it back to me yet" doesn't sound "professional" ... I can understand the lack of clear communication in this kind of business model. in my own opinion it is not a good business model to begin with.

Not sure it's Vanson's fault, Navetsea... What I know of Vanson is that they're actually very open to whatever ideas you may have, however crazy they may be, moreso than any other manufacturer I know of, so this can't just be on them. But again, many people got their jackets so... Perhaps Dan's good only for those X-men jackets? lol

X_Men jacket not my thing but that's beside the point.
I'd not think someone who is that engrained in the craft would just blow off clients.
But I guess stranger things have happened here...

I didn't blame vanson , I rather blame the business model itself, taking a single order and then have it manufactured by another company is not really a good strategy right? it is better to gather orders of a style until it reaches quota and then have them made in one go, or just buy a finished jacket and do the x-men detailing in house.
