On the evening the 4th of may 1945, the danish newsreader from BBC interrupted the program with the news, that the German forces in Northern Germany, Holland AND Denmark had surrendered to Montgomery.
Wihin an hour all the darkout curtains were torn down and burned in the streets and people celeberated the liberation by putting candels in the windows.
As a tribute to those who gave their lives - allied soldiers and danish resistance - , we still have candels in the windows this evening.

That's a nice gesture with the candles, hope you raise a beer in honour of it as well.
