Lapel Conversion Or A Precursor To An 80s Style

[Two Types]

It looks like a conversion to me. It could just be the photographs, but the right lapel just doesn't look right. it is as if they made a better job with the left one.
That said, somewhere in my mind I can recall seeing suits of this style - possibly from Italy in the mid 20th century?
