Hey folks,
I just bought a 7x "Clear Beaver" hat on e-bay. It looks to be a soft felt
Open Road . Fedoralover mentioned it on another thread and said it was a killer buy,(which made me grin from ear to ear), but can someone help me out with some more information? I've been lurking here for about 2 weeks and I'm still
figuring out some things especially about vintage hats. I know beaver (especially
100%) is the best but what is "Clear Beaver" a good blend I hope? Can anyone give me a rough age on this hat? When I do get it I hope to be able to shape it myself. I've had some good sucess shaping felt western hats with steam, also
an Akubra Squatter, will this soft felt take and hold crown shapes in a similar
fashion? Thanks in advance for your help, (this is a great forum)
By the way here's a link to the auction:
