I've never seen a herringbone pattern like this. It reminds me of those illusion illustrations where it looks like it's moving but really isn't.

That was back when weaving of fabric was not automated as much as it is now days. An patterns where not locked down and give exact names and specfications.

Well, it was back in the day when a cap company either owned, or was owned by, a mill. It doesn't take much to turn out a few hundred metres of the stuff when you own the means of production.

These fabrics are available! Just look around. Crazy weaves are out there, in heavy weights, even.
