I know I may be terribly behind the curve on this one but I just picked up Terminator Salvation for $5 the other day and gave it a watch, and a little over 15 minutes through I thought there was something extra cool about John Conner. I saw the Shearling and buttons on his shoulders and thought "Hell, that looks like a B3" I kept watching and freeze framing and realized my suspicions were reality, He is wearing a modified B3. Now hows that for making one of my favorite heroes way cooler than I had originally expected. His B3 looks like the collar had been narrowed, pocket taken off, and the back tapered, but all and all a very cool modernization of my beloved flight jacket. It got me to thinking. How would he have come up with such a jacket in what the movie says is 2017. The likelihood of him finding and modifying an original in 2017 would be rather low. So I came up with my own back story. I have decided in all of my reverse character development, that his mother, knowing he would be the future hero of the human race, brought him up with the heroic stories of our forefathers. Telling him tales of fighting machines of the past, bombers and waist gunners, some of the epitomes of what I at least view as the very height of chivalry and heroism. For him it may not have been far off. Therefore I have come to the conclusion that John Connor himself was as well a WWII nut like many of us, going to air shows and perhaps the very same Reading PA WWII Weekend I go to religiously. Meeting heroes of the past to inspire him to be a hero of the future. That is when he chased down his very own B3. Perhaps an original from some hidden away Army Navy store, perhaps Aero or Eastman, but the bottom line is the B3 was his secret weapon, his inspiration, the superman cape of his adulthood. When the war against Skynet broke out, he was well prepared, and ready for anything. Any weapon would do, he would learn to use it, boots and other clothing scavenged from the rubble, but the B3 would make him bullet proof. Field modified for the future; from airplanes to attack squads, John Connor was at heart what we all are now, living preservation of the past.

I don't yet know if anyone has crafted a John Connor B3, but man what a cool project. I also couldn't imagine myself cutting up a fantastic repro to replicate the Resistance Armor worn in the film, that kind of money alludes me. I just thought Id spread my thoughts and my perhaps quite late observations of yet very cool bomber jackets in cinema. Thank you all, and remember...there is no fate, but what you make.

Definitely one for filmjackets.com. Not sure we ever see much fantasy back-story work around these parts. But we're keen to hear about real world jacket makers and experiences.

I've got the exact same jacket..with harness' and all.
