if this has been done before please merge me...

I need a couple of pairs of decent high waisted jeans, preferably a cigarette style for one a la Scarlett Johannsen at Imitation of Christ, and a wide leg pair.

I cannot seem to find anything suitable, anyone got any recommendations?

As I've probably mentioned in those threads, for a good pair of repro jeans I would recommend Freddies of Pinewood. They have the side zip waist, deep front pocket stitching, high waist and a good shape - great reproduction of what used to be known as 'dungarees'. For a wide leg style you should try Vivien of Holloway (also stocked in Radio Days in Waterloo) who do a high waisted, sailor style denim cotton pair with buttons up the side. I usually wear these to swing dancing classes and they are really comfortable. You can also get the real vintage deal on Ebay but they tend to be in tiny waist sizes (24"-26" typically) whereas the larger sizes (28" upwards) tend to go for alot.

actually, i tried on a nice pair of wide legged navy trousers with buttons up each side in marks and spencers last week.
they would look great on someone tall /and or slim, but sadly they did nothing for me.
trousers just really dont suit me.

Hope I'm not too late to throw my two penneth in...

I've found a pair of jeans just like those Imitation of Christ ones - tapered, stretch, high-waisted, no fuss or frills, and exactly the same shade of denim as Scarlett's. They're by Jasmine Guinness for Oli (www.oli.co.uk) and they're going for £40 a pop. They're rather off-puttingly listed as denim leggings (could they sound any less wearable??) but I just received my order and they're thick enough to qualify as jeans in my book! I’m very happy with them and would recommend (I’m also happy with Oli’s service, but having bought from them a few times now, don’t take any notice of the function that supposedly allows you to choose which day your order is delivered – they’ve always ignored my requested date and delivered them straightaway anyway).

They're new in, so they should still have good availability in all sizes if anyone’s interested.

My husband has ordered some things from the UK, and it's roughly a 2 to 1 exchange. So it the pants are listed for 30 pounds, they'll be $60 at the most. It's not an exact formula, mind you, but it's a good place to start.

You ladies in Great Britain are so lucky! There are so many cute styles that haven't made it over here yet. At least, they haven't trickled to the Midwest :D

I tried on those the other day and they were so unflattering! The material was far too clingy and they weren't cut high enough on the waist.

Miss Cicero, those jeans look cute!
