Ivory ashtray, help date this thing?

Hello I am not to sure which forum to post this thread, so I am just going for it here. I came by this ashtray 12 years ago and was told by the person I recieved it from it was brought back from a vet from the asian front in WW2 or so. Any info or ideas of when, and where, it is from would be helpfull. I did do the pin test and it is ivory.
Thanks!

FYI, I've had celluloid jewelry pieces that passed the pin test just like ivory.

That said, neat ashtray, but I have no idea. Good luck finding your answers!

Examine the piece with a magnifying glass and look for the grain lines - called Shrager Lines. An ivory tusk has concentric rings just like tree rings, though the lines may not be concentric in a small carved object due to where in the tusk it was cut. In any event, all ivory has Shrager Lines somewhere. If it doesn't have the grain lines, it's not ivory. Oh - and if the lines are all perfectly spaced and even over the whole surface, it's celluloid or other imitation ivory.
