Okay we've ALL seen Tokyo demolished, New York mashed, London "Gorgo'd", L.A. folded, spindled AND mutilated and even Copenhagen slimed. If you were the producer of the "next big monster mash"... what city would you like to see flattened by a giant reptile (or the Army trying to kill it!)?

Me, save for the Nazi's and "Team America", Paris "The City of Light" has been spared the ravages of mutated atomic menaces. I say squash it! Mimes running hither and yon only to be flattened or crisped crepe like with atomic breath. The Louvre in shambles, the staff desperately trying to save what pieces they can! C'est Manifique.

My second choice, Washington D.C. "Earth vs. The Flying Saucers" didn't do enough damage!

I got that, but stayed away anyhow (wrote and deleted several lines before posting) as I understand (I think and only a bit) the world we live in and knew that any tongue-in-cheek post I made would probably either get me banned from /reprimanded by FL or hated by half or more of its members (assuming I'm not already).

What you wanted to do was in good fun and would be great table conversation over beers, it just doesn't work in the always-ready-to-be-offended / always-ready-to see-hate-and-isms-where-joking-and-lightheartedness-was-intended world we live in today. My dad's buddies - from very mixed backgrounds - could have had this conversation and they'd all still be the best of friends afterwards; our world doesn't work that way.

There's a suburb of what is now East London that was once part of the county of Essex. The place is known as Dagenham. In the UK, social housing for the least well off are referred to as 'Council Houses.' So called because the local council is the landlord. When Ford sited it's UK factory alongside the railway line in Dagenham, it was welcomed by the council, who saw prosperity and jobs coming to the area.
The factory was going to need workers and so started an urban sprawl like no other. Every street, home, shop, even places of worship, all looked like an homogenised blend of one and the same building. The area became so huge and so, same old, same old, that locals joked: There are only two structures that can be seen on earth, from outer space, with the naked eye. The Great Wall of China and The Dagenham Council Estate.
If you bombed it flat it would still look the same.

My dad worked very briefly at the Dagenham Ford plant before emigrating to Canada.

I read your post and didn't say anything to anyone about it. If the mods took it down it wasn't because I asked them to. But I do respect their judgment. This is the only forum I frequent anymore, hell, I even got off Facebook because I couldn't take the rancor. I feel welcome here and most of the folks get my jokes (even the bad ones). The problem with posts is one can't transmit a wry smile or a knowing wink like you could if you were on my porch and we were sharing a laugh.... something anyone here is welcome to do!

I had buddies like this... regardless of which way the political winds blew we all loved one another and broke bread together... Sadly after this last election... things just haven't been the same. Sitting on pins and needles wondering who's gonna say what to set someone off... Sad.
