Quirky News | Orange UK
"A footwear manufacturer in China has made an electric car out of a giant shoe. It can carry two people up to 250 miles at speeds of up to 20mph on a single charge of the battery underneath the driver's seat. The leather 'bodywork' is made in the same way as a normal shoe but on a bigger scale, using the hide of five bulls. A Kang Shoe company spokesman said it took six months to design and build the car at a cost of around £4,000."

How about a leather trunk, like the one on this 1932 Buick coupé - only with its own motive power.

Pretend this has a drive chain, battery, and some bike wheels inside, and a seat under the lid. You could ride it to the next gas station if the Buick, inevitably, goes kerflooey. Or take it out by itself, as a car and luggage all in one.

A very early 30s idea actually - experimenters were building smaller and smaller cars then, in case nobody had any money ever again.

But dammit, isn't that the handsomest damn piece of automotive accessory you could ever want? Even if you can't afford a '32 Buick coupé. And believe me - you can't.
