A companion piece to this thread because the gals were getting all the attention.

I have to choose a young Mr Cary Grant.
He was comedic, he was debonaire. A great dresser, a great smile. Always joking, but knows how to let you have it when he's serious.

Close runner ups: Fred Astaire & William Powell- both with tongue in cheek sense of humour and great dressers.

There's something about George Clooney that reminds me of Archie Leach (I mean, Cary Grant).

I KNOW! Thought I was one of the only ones. Especially in Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

I'll second Cary Grant and Fred Astaire as tops as far as I'm concerned. Very close runner ups would be William Holden, Gregory Peck and William Holden.

Aw, I like Bogie... :) His characters have just the right mix of cynicism and vulnerability, straight-up but crafty, intelligent but street-smart, immoral but you know he'll do the right thing in the end.

Well, you ladies may find it weird that I a man have a preference. But, I know a good male actor when I see it.

I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢d say Clooney reminded me more of Clark Gable in ?¢‚Ǩ?ìBrother Where Art Though?¢‚Ǩ?. But, that?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s just me.

What about this shot of Cooper?

No one has mentioned Gene Raymond yet. He lead a very good life.

Or the "Baby faced tenor" Dick Powell.

Thanks, Wild Root, I knew you could find the photos.

Besides Cooper, there was Bogart. I loved his world-weary, sad face and tough-guy-with-a-heart persona. And nobody looked better in a fedora.
