Today, a semi-regular customer visited Wardrobe 19 and spotted our leather jackets by Aero. He started talking about a jacket he bought in London during the 1980s that is similar in style and thickness to the ones we have in the store. I asked if I could see pictures of the jacket, and he went out to his car and brought it back.

As a leather jacket enthusiast, you can imagine how excited I was to see that jacket and check out the label.

He shared how special the jacket is to him, both in terms of its sentimental value and the memories it holds. He talked about rough times living on the streets of Copenhagen, where he only had one outfit, always wearing that jacket.

The patina truly tells a story of his life, and this is one of the reasons I love high-quality leather jackets.

Does anyone recognize the label?

My guess is sometime between 1983 (when the first Aero Highwayman jacket was made) and 1986 (when the ‘Car, Plane & Bike’ label design was created)
I owned a Highwayman Deluxe which had a label also made from leather as this one appears to be and my jacket was dated to 1985-1986.
After the mid 1980’s I believe most Aero labels were either embroidered or occasionally printed on cloth.

It’s very cool to see a jacket from that Era. Hope the one you had was in better shape though :p

Yes, although I wasn’t the original owner my jacket with the Highwayman Deluxe label had hardly been worn.
Although it was in great condition I ended up selling it at a profit to help fund the purchase of another couple of Aero jackets.
