How to reshape a milan brim?

I have a wonderful milan (not panama type straw) hat that I bought from Art Fawcett a number of years ago. I want to reshape the front of the brim, but every time I do so with a little steam, the brim goes back to its original shape after it dries. Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this problem? Thanks

I have a couple of Art’s Milans too. They do have a lot of spring back and resist shaping. I don’t think you’ll be able to mold it like felt, but I’ve had decent luck steaming it and immediately holding in the shape with my fingers and holding it for 60 seconds at it cools. I’ll also exaggerate the pinches etc. with the knowledge that the Milan will spring back some. It takes multiple applications of steaming, pinching, and holding to mold it. You also need to hold the shape immediately after taking away the steam.

Good luck and post before and after photos if you can.
