Hot Roller Help!

Hey there, Ladies! I need some hot roller help! I am tired of using a curling iron on my very thick, medium length hair as it is so time consuming, and want to start using hot rollers. I would really appreciate any advice as far as which brand and make of hot rollers are best. I know I need a set that gets super hot because my hair is a bit resistant. Thanks a bunch!!

Most people seem to like the Babyliss Hot Sticks, but an overnight wet/cold set will take much better on curl resistant hair! Cheaper too...

I have the same type of hair as you. I have these rollers http://www.johnlewis.com/babyliss-3035u-ceramic-high-speed-rollers/p230419877 My hairdresser suggested lightly spraying each section of hair with hairspray before rolling. However, the curl drops out fairly quickly.

For a tighter curl, you could try Hot Sticks (as the previous answer suggested) or an overnight set. If I am going out in the evening and I need a quick way to refresh my hair, I use heated products. On a daily basis, I roll my hair in sponge rollers early evening and leave them in all night. My hair hates to curl, but I get the best results with a 'cold' set.

Thanks! I may look into this roller set and Hot Sticks. I know my hair is shinier and less poofy when I use sponge rollers, but it takes soooo long, and I don't really don't like going to bed in rollers. Thanks again, these suggestions have been really helpful!

My hot sticks are not called hot sticks they are conair link and curl. This past winter I used my link and curl set everyday along with tresemme heat tamer spray lightly sprayed and combed into my hair before rolling my hair. This helped so I would not damage my hair. I also learned that I'm able to sleep in my link and curl set with a slumber cap over the rollers to make sure my rollers did not fall out while I slept.

The orange ones are for large curls and the pink ones are the small, with this set one can also do spiral curls. Yet With hot sticks they slide out and do not wrap around the hair tight enough. The link and curl set does not slide off the hair and the curls come out tighter and more like pin curls. I was lucky I found these since I learned these are now becoming harder to find.

Amanda Lee's video is the pattern setting I always use when setting my hair with my link and curl (hot sticks) hot rollers with Tresamme heat protection leave in spray.

Even though the set I use is called link and curl they are very similar to hot sticks. Yet the link and curl hot rollers will never slip off of your hair and can be slept in wraped in a head scarf or slumber cap, hot sticks they do slip off as shown in Lisa Freemont's video.

My hair is long to my shoulder blades and thin, corse, with a slight wave and I only use one set of link and curl hot rollers. I let them sit for 30 minutes to heat up. When I set my hair I also leave my rollers in for 30 minutes this way I know they are 100% cold when I take out my curlers.

Not a hot sticks recommendation, but I am a big fan of using perm rods with a cold set, if you have the time and patience to let it dry thoroughly.
